Dear Colleagues,
We are acutely aware that the principles and values we hold are disregarded in many of the policies that our government is pursuing. We have decided to voice our concerns as a collective group of mental health professionals in order to help effect positive change. We have therefore composed this Petition outlining our core principles and values and calling upon our public leaders to support those policies, legislation and programs that are in accord with our beliefs.
We are asking you to sign onto this Petition as an individual. We are also asking our professional organizations to endorse this Petition. We anticipate that by collecting thousands of signatures and publicizing this petition through a myriad of mental health professional organizations, a resounding statement can be made that is heard by our public leaders, the press and the general public. And we anticipate that this will encourage others to be active in furthering the ideals of our professions.
Please click here
to sign the petition and forward this information to your colleagues and professional
organizations throughout the country, with your personal note.
We are a group of psychotherapists whose
vision is to create connection and community as we work on local
and global social actions. We have on-going discussions leading
to action about the affects on families of current policies such
as preventive wars, the Patriot Act, corporate injustice,
cuts in services, and harm to the environment. We are drafting articles
and presentations for outreach and education of other therapists
and the public.
Therapists for Social Responsibility currently has meetings in
Sacramento and Therapists for Peace and Justice meets in the Bay
Area. Please contact us if you want to start or join a chapter with
other concerned therapists in your area.
